Hello there!

Great post.

However, I must ask, if the premise is "Nobody should care about titles...", and the claim is let's call DevOps engineers just "Ops" engineers, should we care or shouldn't we?

I'm honestly debating that myself, as someone who called themself that once, and even wrote a similar post to yours back in the day:

"There's no such thing as a DevOps engineer" .

However, I do see myself an engineer doing both; writing applications around ops, i.e. K8s controllers and operators, CLI tools for developers etc. Am I working in Ops? Or am I a developer? I guess a little bit of both. I honestly don't know how to frame it.

So my bottom line is, while I do agree with you, and this is probably right for most teams I've dealt with in the past as a consultant, I try hard to build my own team today with skills of both world, and a mixed orientation.

I believe that's the way to go.
